三一節期祝文：1928年《公禱書》與莎霖禮儀的淵源

與入祭頌、進階詠和奉獻頌不同——這些聖詠在數個世紀的演變中，各自發展為半獨立的音樂傳統並疊加於節期之上——三一主日及三一後各主日的祝文，除了一個明顯的例外，基本上是一脈相承、未曾中斷的。克蘭麥幾乎原封不動地繼承了莎霖禮儀（Sarum Rite）的祝文，在編纂1549年《公禱書》時將其緊密貼合原意地譯為英文；而後來的修訂者（主要是在1662年，美國《1928年公禱書》幾乎逐字沿用了該版本的文本）僅在個別處作了教義上的擴充。正如《牛津公禱書手冊》（Oxford Handbook of the Book of Common Prayer）所指出的，公禱書中約有三分之二的祝文源於莎霖禮儀，其餘大部分由克蘭麥親自撰寫，另有少數幾篇是由約翰·科辛（John Cosin）於1662年增補的（《牛津公禱書手冊》）。《教會時報》（Church Times）的一項相關統計亦指出，在《共同崇拜》（Common Worship）所保留的二十二篇三一節期祝文中，仍有十四篇最終可追溯至同一莎霖禮儀傳統（《教會時報》，〈論祝文與獻主節〉["Of collects and Candlemas"]）。

下方的拉丁文原文引自普羅克特與弗里爾（Procter & Frere）合著之《公禱書新史》（A New History of the Book of Common Prayer）的「補充註釋」（"Additional Note"）附錄，該附錄刊印了三一節期各篇祝文所依據的莎霖禮儀拉丁文文本（普羅克特與弗里爾，第13章）；英文部分則採用美國1928年《公禱書》的文本（《1928年公禱書》專文[Propers]）。

浮現的脈絡

縱觀這全部二十六篇祝文，只有一篇——三一後第二主日祝文——完全沒有莎霖禮儀的淵源；其餘每一篇祝文皆明顯是其拉丁文原文忠實的英譯，且絕大多數可透過《莎霖彌撒書》（Sarum Missal）一路追溯至六至八世紀的《哲拉修聖事書》（Gelasian Sacramentary）與《格里高利聖事書》（Gregorian Sacramentary）。後來的修訂者若有改動措辭，幾乎全都是在1662年（而非1928年，後者在這些主日上僅是直接沿用了1662年的文本），且這些改動集中於少數幾處脈絡清晰的教義擴充：將三一主日的單一祈求拆分為二、增補「天上地下」（三一主日後第八主日）、插入「遵行主的命令」（第十一主日）、將「魔鬼的玷染」擴充為「世俗、情慾和撒旦」（第十八主日），以及用「聖靈」替換「慈悲的運行」（第十九主日）。

這與本研究前文所追溯的專用聖詠形成了鮮明的對比。入祭頌、進階詠、奉獻頌、哈利路亞及領主頌，各自經歷了數個世紀的沉澱，發展成獨立且具內在邏輯的音樂層次（例如依序遞進的詩篇頌唱次序〔psalm cursus〕、後來四季齋期造成的次序中斷，以及莎霖、赫里福德、約克與羅馬禮儀傳統之間的差異）。相較之下，祝文在宗教改革時期基本上透過翻譯而被定型保留下來：克蘭麥將專文聖歌視為一整套可供他刪減、重排或捨棄的禮儀機制——入祭頌在1549年後銷聲匿跡，而進階詠、哈利路亞、奉獻頌與領主頌則從官方禮儀中完全消失——但他卻將祝文視為應當忠實譯為本地語言的文本。這使得美國1928年《公禱書》在祈禱時，幾乎仍是逐字逐句地誦唸着五個世紀前在索爾茲伯里座堂（Salisbury Cathedral）所唸誦的同一批拉丁文禱文。
