作者：菲利普·多德里奇 (1735)：18世紀英國著名的非國教（Nonconformist / Dissenters）公理宗牧師、神學家、教育家和聖詩作家，與「聖詩之父」以撒·華茲（Isaac Watts）是摯友，在英美基督教歷史上具有深遠的影響力。

1 請聽佳音救主降生，主話早已應許；
讓每顆心豫備寶座，眾口豫備樂曲。		 Hark, the glad sound! the Savior comes,
The Savior promised long!
Let ev'ry heart prepare a throne
And ev'ry voice a song.
2 祂來釋放撒但囚徒，賜以自由喜樂；
銅牆鐵壁皆被打破，手銬腳鐐脫落。		 He comes the pris'ners to release,
In Satan's bondage held;
The gates of brass before him burst,
The iron fetters yield.
3 祂來啟迪愚蒙心地，諸天視界開放；
撫摸醫治每一瞎眼，傾注屬天光芒。		 He comes from thickest films of vice
To clear the mental ray,
And on the eyeballs of the blind
To pour celestial day.
4 祂來纏裹破碎心靈，醫治憂傷心魂；
祂來豐富所有貧窮，廣賜萬福厚恩。		 He comes the broken heart to bind,
The bleeding soul to cure,
And with the treasures of his grace,
T’enrich the humble poor.
5 祂吹銀號高聲宣揚，上主偉大禧年；
